An avalanche occurred at 7:30 AM on Sunday, which is behind the Kedarnath Temple in the Rudraprayad region of Uttarakhand.

It was reported that the avalanche that occurred on Sumeru Mountain caused no damage.

The official statement

Uttarakhand DGP Ashok Kumar, in a conversation with the media, said, “This avalanche has not caused any damage, nor has the water level of the Saraswati River increased.” He added that this situation in Kedarnath is normal.

Previous avalanche cases in Kedarnath

Kedarnath has previously seen several avalanches in the recent past. It was reported that a similar snow avalanche took place in the state on June 4, which hit a group of pilgrims on their route to Hemkund Sahib. Five of them were rescued by the team of the State Disaster Relief Force (SDRF), which also recovered the body of one pilgrim on June 5 after the rescue operation resumed.

The doors of the Kedarnath Dham were opened on April 25 and have witnessed a massive footfall of tourists.
