Several rivers in North India have reached unsafe levels as a result of the recent heavy rains, the Yamuna River in Delhi is flowing over three metres above the danger mark.
While the Malan River in Kotdwara, Uttarakhand, has shown its fury. A bridge built over the Malan River washed away due to the river’s overflow. Heavy rain continues to fall in Uttarakhand. In the meantime, a horrifying video from Kotdwara has surfaced, showing the rapid water flow in the Malan River that resulted in part of the bridge being swept away.

Apart from this, several routes in the state, including national highways, have been closed due to landslides following incessant rains, affecting normal life as well as the Chardham Yatra.
The Badrinath National Highway in the Chamoli district has been closed in five sections between Chamoli and Joshimath due to landslides. However, the Border Roads Organisation is trying their level best to clear the debris and clear the roads.
Haridwar is also affected due to heavy rainfall.

After inspecting the affected areas, CM assured of all possible help to the people. Uttarakhand CM Pushkar Singh Dhami said, “The flooding is excessive here, water has entered the houses of people. The Administration and all of us are here. We are seeing to it that people get food and other essential items and they do not face any issues. Water will recede once the rainfall stops. After that, the other losses to the power supply, water, and roadways will be reinstated…”
India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an ‘Orange’ alert for Uttarakhand. Taking it to Twitter, the department mentioned, “#OrangeAlert: #Uttarakhand likely to get heavy to very heavy rainfall (115.6 to 204.4 mm) during 15th to 17th July.”
