A 22-year-old daughter of a government official was allegedly kidnapped and gang raped by three men in a moving car on December 5, according to a criminal complaint filed with police on Sunday.

The young woman was a patient receiving psychiatric treatment at King George's Medical University (KGMU) Hospital. After her mobile phone ran out of charge, she sought help from a tea stall vendor, Satyam Mishra, whose stand she often visited at the hospital.

How did the horrifying crime take place?

Mishra took her to a nearby parked ambulance to charge the phone. However, after some time, she realised the ambulance was gone and Mishra assisted her in looking for the vehicle, police said.

Mishra then drove the woman in another car to a roadside restaurant in the Safedabad area of Barabanki, about 15 miles away. The two other accused men, Suhail and Mohd. Aslam was allegedly in the car as well.

Police claim the men forced the victim to drink an intoxicating substance, then took turns raping her inside the moving car before dumping her semi-conscious in Lucknow's Indira Nagar area.

Police arrested all three accused

Based on the woman's detailed statement, police have arrested all three accused and an FIR was registered at Wazirganj police station on Sunday under sections 376 (d) (gang rape), 342 (wrongful confinement), 328 (administering a drug with intent to cause hurt), 323 (voluntarily causing hurt) and 506 (criminal intimidation) of the Indian Penal Code (IPC).

The vehicle used in the crime contained two cell phones and Rs 19,830 in cash, now seized as evidence.

Further investigation into the high-profile case is underway, police officials stated.
