Food poisoning strikes Greater Noida hostel, 100 students hospitalized

A distressing incident unfolded at a hostel in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, on Friday evening, leaving nearly 100 students in need of medical attention after consuming food served on the premises.

The evening took a concerning turn when students began complaining of stomach aches and vomiting shortly after their dinner, prompting immediate action from the hostel authorities.

"The incident was reported at nearly 9.30 pm on Friday, after the students had dinner," said a source familiar with the situation.  "The authorities were alerted after nearly 100 of them complained of health issues."

Recognizing the gravity of the situation, the affected students were swiftly taken to a nearby hospital, where they received treatment. The diagnosis revealed a troubling reality: all of them were suffering from food poisoning.

In the wake of this alarming event, the local law enforcement authorities were notified, and an investigation was promptly initiated by the Food Department to ascertain the cause of the outbreak.

"Subsequently, the police were informed about the incident, and investigations into the case by the Food Department were underway," confirmed a statement from the authorities.

The incident has raised serious concerns about food safety and hygiene standards at the hostel, prompting calls for a thorough examination of the food preparation and handling practices.
