Cop’s son, 10, dies after getting hit by SUV in Lucknow

Two accused have been arrested by the police, and the SUV, which had allegedly hit the child, has also recovered in connection with the case.

A heart wrenching incident has been surfaced from Uttar Pradesh’s Lucknow, where 10-year-old son of a senior police officer was killed on Tuesday after being hit by SUV while he was skating near Janeshwar Mishra park.

According to the police officials, two accused have been arrested by the police, and the SUV, which had allegedly hit the child, has also recovered. 

The victim has been identified as Namish (10), son of Additional Superintendent of Police (ASP) Shweta Srivastava, posted in police headquarters Lucknow.

As per preliminary investigation, the incident happened at around 5.30 AM in Gomti Nagar extension area. Soon after the incident, the child was taken to a hospital where he was declared dead.

Five police teams have been formed to solve the case, Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Ashish Srivastava said while speaking to media. 

DCP Ashish Srivastava said that two people have been identified after watching the CCTV footage, a white SUV that hit the child has been recovered and two persons identified as Sarthak Singh and Devshri Verma have been arrested. Both accused will soon be taken on remand, according to the official.

Meanwhile, police have registered a case against them under sections 304 (punishment for culpable homicide not amounting to murder) and 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) of the IPC.
