Bareilly saree killer: A wave of panic has swept through Bareilly as a serial killer, seemingly targeting women in sarees, remains at large. In the past six months, nine women between the ages of 45 to 65 have fallen victim to the assailant, raising concerns about the safety of the community.
The unidentified killer appears to follow a sinister pattern. The victims, all aged between 45 to 65, have been discovered with strangulation marks, and there is no evidence of sexual assault or robbery. The murders typically occur in deserted areas, adding to the mystery surrounding the assailant.
The series of horrifying events began on June 7, with the murder of 42-year-old Dhanwati in Shahi village. Subsequent cases unfolded in Anandpur, Mubarakpur, Kheu, Jwalapur, Shishgarh, Khanpur, Khursaini, and Jagdishpur villages, each following a disturbingly similar pattern.
Despite increased police patrolling and surveillance through drones, the assailant has managed to evade capture, leaving the police with empty hands. The lack of evidence has further complicated the investigation, turning it into a significant challenge for law enforcement.
The modus operandi involves the killer luring the victims to fields before using a saree or chunari to strangle them. The calculated and methodical approach has left the community living in fear, especially women who remain vigilant due to the gruesome series of events.
The victims include Mahmudan, Dhanvati, Veeravati, Kusuma Devi, Shanti Devi, Premvati, Dulari Devi, Reshma Devi, and Urmila Devi, all hailing from various villages within Shishgarh and surrounding areas.
The spree of murders has not only shaken the residents of Bareilly but has also posed a significant challenge to the local authorities in their pursuit of justice. The police continue their efforts to apprehend the serial killer and bring an end to this disturbing and tragic sequence of events.
