The voting for the final phase of the urban local body in Uttar Pradesh begins at 7 am on Thursday. The final phase of the elections will cover 38 districts including Meerut, Ghaziabad, Shahjahanpur, Bareilly, Aligarh, Kanpur, and Ayodhya.The votes are important because political parties are attempting to demonstrate their power ahead of the Lok Sabha elections in 2024. BJP and Samajwadi Party officials crisscrossed the poll-bound areas on Tuesday evening to wrap up the final phase of campaigning.Notably, Shahjahanpur will vote to elect its first mayor. The first phase of the elections was held on May 4 and results will be out on May 13.According to the election commission, in the first phase, 52 percent turnout in the states was recorded on May 4.
