The Allahabad District Court is set to conduct a hearing in the murder case involving notorious gangster Atiq Ahmed and his brother Ashraf Ahmed on Thursday.The three accused, identified as Arun Maurya, Sunny Singh, and Lovelesh Tiwari, will be presented before the court via video conferencing.Recently, the court ordered the appointment of a lawyer to represent the three accused individuals, with no one initially willing to take on the defence.The incident in question occurred on April 15 of this year in Prayagraj, where gangsters Atiq Ahmad and his brother Ashraf Ahmad were fatally shot by individuals posing as journalists.The three assailants involved in the attack, were subsequently taken into custody by the district court. They were later remanded to judicial custody as the legal proceedings continued.Atiq Ahmed, known for his criminal history, had faced accusations of involvement in various serious crimes, including the 2005 murder of Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) MLA Raju Pal. He was also implicated in the killing of a key witness, Umesh Pal, in the same case earlier this year. At the time of his death, he had more than 160 criminal cases filed against him.Ahmed was a former member of the Samajwadi Party and was a member of the Lok Sabha and the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly.
