UP: Woman gang-raped, jewellery, cash looted in Bijnor

The incident took place when the woman was alone as her husband went to visit the doctor along with his mother and children.

A 35-year-old woman in Uttar Pradesh’s Bijnor district was allegedly gang-raped by five men who entered her house on Tuesday evening, police said. Lucknow police added that they escaped with cash and jewelry worth lakhs. 

The incident took place when the woman was alone as her husband went to visit the doctor along with his mother and children. Police said that the incident occurred at the house of a wholesale hardware trader in a village in Nagina rural area.  

Bijnor's SP forms three teams

Bijnor's Superintendent of police, Neeraj Kumar Jadaun has set up three police teams to identify and arrest the culprits. SP (Bijnor rural) Ramaraj Singh said that a case under sections 376D and 395 had been registered on Wednesday against the unknown persons on the complaint of the woman’s husband.

The woman’s husband alleged in his complaint, that miscreants entered his house by scaling the neighbor’s wall, the accused first thrashed his wife and forcefully made her consume some liquid after which she fell unconscious.

He alleged.“They looted nearly 250 gm of gold, 2 kg silver, and ₹1.5 lakh in cash. In the meantime, my wife regained her consciousness and found that she was tied up. The miscreants then gang-raped her and also burnt her with a cigarette,” he alleged in his FIR. The miscreants also looted a scooty while escaping from the spot,
