In Uttar Pradesh’s Ghaziabad, a woman lost her life after she was hit by a speeding car on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway while trying to fend off a man who was molesting her. This shocking incident happened on September 09, when the woman, identified as Santa, was working in a nearby field, along with another woman.

UP woman dies after being hit by speeding car while chasing man who harassed her

According to the woman’s family, a bike-borne man used to stalk Santa and make obscene gestures at her while she used to work in the fields.

On September 09, she tried to chase away the man. During this, she was hit by a speeding car on the expressway. 

Santa was then rushed to a hospital immediately where she succumbed to her injuries on September 13.

Case filed against accused

Following this incident, the police lodged a case against the accused and efforts were on to trace him as soon as possible. 

Meanwhile, the woman’s relatives have blamed the highway authorities for this tragic incident, questioning the entry of the two-wheelers on the Delhi-Meerut Expressway.

Other women also faced harassment from accused: Police

During the investigation, it was revealed that several other women from the village had faced similar harassment from the accused in the past.

Briefing about the incident, Naresh Kumar, Superintendent of Police, Masuri, Ghaziabad, said they have registered a case wherein a woman died in a car accident on the expressway while she was following a man who made obscene gestures at her.

Several CCTV cameras on the expressway were being searched to ascertain the identity of the accused, said the SP.
