A wanted criminal, identified as Gufran was killed in an encounter with Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (STF) early in the morning on Tuesday in Kaushambi. Gufran had serious charges of several charges of murder and dacoity and was announced wanted by the state police.

Wanted criminal Gufran shot dead in early morning encounter

The encounter broke out in the wee hours of the morning around 5 am in UP’s Kaushambi in which criminal Gufran was shot dead. He was taken to hospital where the doctors confirmed that the criminal was brought dead.

Over 13 cases of murder, loot, and robbery are lodged against him in UP’s Pratapgarh and Sultanpur. Moreover, in Prayagraj and Sultanpur, the police declared a cash reward of Rs 1,25.000 on Gufran.

Official statements

Briefing about the encounter, SP Kaushambi Brijesh Srivastava told the media, “A criminal identified as Mo. Gufran has been killed in an encounter with UP STF near the Samda sugar mill of Manjhanpur, Kaushambi. He was carrying a reward of Rs 1,25,000.”

How did the encounter happen? 

Further, the police officials said that Gufran was confronted by the team and opened fire following which the cops retaliated, and in the cross-firing, He was shot and injured. Then, the wanted criminal was taken to hospital for treatment, where he succumbed to his injuries. However, Later the doctors declared him dead.

This comes in a series of encounters between Uttar Pradesh Police and criminals. Since 2017, when Yogi Adityanath become the chief minister, so far almost 10,900 encounters have taken place, in which over 185 criminals have been killed.
