In Uttar Pradesh’s Bareilly, a group of Kanwariyas (pilgrims) blocked a national highway as one of them was injured after being hit by a vehicle on Saturday.
Briefing about the incident, Deputy District Magistrate (Meerganj) Udit Pawar said that a Kanwariya, identified as Arjun, suffered injuries after being hit by a car while returning from Haridwar.
The injured pilgrim was rushed to the hospital immediately. The police have seized the vehicle and initiated a probe into this matter.
Meanwhile, a group of pilgrims blocked traffic on the National Highway-24 demanding strict action against the driver of the vehicle.
Later, the road was cleared and traffic resumed after almost two hours following assurance of swift action by senior officials.
