A tragic incident happened in Uttar Pradesh’s Barabanki, when a double-storey building collapsed in the wee hours of Monday, killing two people and 10 others injured, said officials.
The authorities suspect that almost three to four people may still trapped under the debris. However, the search and rescue mission is ongoing to locate them, said police.

Initially, the police rescued nearly 12 people and immediately they were rushed to the hospital but two of them could not survive. The rest are still undergoing treatment at the hospital, police added.
Meanwhile, a team from the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) arrived at the spot of the incident to carry out a search operation to locate those who were still said to be trapped under the debris. Moreover, it is expected that a team from the National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) will also join the rescue operation shortly.
Briefing about the building collapse incident, Superintendent of Police (SP), Barabanki, Dinesh Kumar Singh said, “Around 3.10 am, we received information about a building collapse in Barabanki. Initially, we were informed that around 19 people were trapped in the incident.”
“Subsequently, the fire service vehicles were mobilised and local residents also lent a hand in the rescue efforts. Later, it was found out that four of the family were out of the station and escaped the incident. Of the remaining 16 people, we rescued 12 individuals,” he said.
The SP also said that the rescued people were taken to hospital. However, two of them were declared dead by the doctors.
“We have got information that three or four people are likely still trapped under the debris. SDRF team is also at the spot, (NDRF) will arrive soon. Among the 12 people who were rescued and hospitalised, two have died,” Singh added.
Meanwhile, a video of the incident side has also emerged showing the police and SDRF members engaged in the rescue operation, attempting to remove debris from the collapsed building while the bystanders anxiously watched in apprehension.

Barabanki is located 30 km east of UP’s capital city Lucknow.
