The family of Ujjain rape case survivors has accused the police of the unfortunate event claiming that they were turned down when they went to file a missing persons report on Sunday. The 12-year-old was seen going door to door while bleeding and a semi-naked clothing, seeking help from people in a CCTV footage.

Ujjain rape victim’s family accuse police

According to media reports, the grandfather of the 12-year-old said that he tried to file a complaint at Jaitwara police station at 10 p.m. on Sunday, around 6-7 hours ahead of the crime. However, he was denied filing a case and was asked to leave saying that he should come in the morning after he was done searching by himself.

“If the police had started their probe in the night itself, the girl could be in safe hands,” said the grandfather.

Jaitwara police station in-charge Shweta Maurya, has however denied such allegations and said that the police took swift action in the matter, media reports suggest.

The Makhali police found the 12-year-old bleeding on the Badnagar road in Ujjain on Monday. She was later rescued by a priest who gave her clothes and called the police. According to the police she was able to trust her and hid behind him whenever someone approached them.

Victim’s family narrates story

The 12-year-old rape victim’s father said that she had left the house to take an exam at her school, after which she was raped. He also said that he only got to know about the incident after his uncle showed him the viral video of her walking on the streets of Ujjain, according to media reports.

The minor girl’s father, a resident of Satna district said that she always used to walk to her school which was only a kilometre away. On that fateful day as well, she was walking to school as usual.

The girl studied in the eighth grade and was on her way to attend the Science Olympiad exam at her school. When she didn’t come back for a long time, her grandfather went out to search for her in the nearby areas. Unable to find her, her family later filed a missing person’s report on September 25.

It was only after his uncle showed him the video that the girl’s father got to know that his daughter was in Ujjain, media reports suggest.
