A heartbreaking incident was caught in Madhya Pradesh’s Ujjain where a 12-year-old was seen going door to door asking for help after she was raped. In a video caught on CCTV, the girl was seen to be partially clothed and bleeding while hopping from one house to the other.

The footage also showed how the residents avoided her as she walked around the area for an hour, while one resident was seen shooing her away.

Police sends 12-year-old for treatment

The girl was found by police on Monday near an Ashram who took her to a local hospital for medical help. The young girl is currently undergoing treatment at a hospital in Indore due to her critical condition.

Ujjain SP Sachin Kumar also spoke on this issue and said In the Mahakal police station of Ujjain district a complaint has been filed against unknown people. In which the issue of rape has come forward. This has been medically confirmed. Due to the critical condition of the girl she was referred to Indore… In this, a big team of SIT has been formed and we are tracking the case at all places.”

The girl was unable to properly say her name or provide an address, according to the Police. They have resorted to the CCTV footage to determine how the girl ended up there and where was she assaulted.

Ujjain police registers case

A case of rape has been registered by the police against the unidentified accused. Apart from a case on the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (POCSO) Act has also been invoked. The Police are now trying to track the girl’s family

In an effort to identify the perpetrators, police are tracking her relatives and starting a technology inquiry to monitor the movement of vehicles and individuals in the vicinity.

Former Madhya Pradesh CM speaks

Former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Kamal Nath also commented on this traumatic incident and expressed his distress at the incident. He also asked the current Chief Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan to sanction Rs 1 crore in relief to the victim and called for strict punishment of the accused.

Taking on to social media platform ‘X’, Nath wrote “It is heart-wrenching to see a case of extremely cruel abuse of a small girl in Ujjain. The kind of rape that happened to a 12-year-old daughter and the way she ran around in many areas of the city in a semi-nude state and then fell unconscious on the road, puts humanity to shame.”
