Two pilots dead as Colombian Air Force planes collide mid-air during training

Two pilots have lost their lives in a tragic accident in Colombia, where two Air Force aircraft collided mid-air during a training exercise at the Apiay Air Base on Saturday.

Videos on social media showed two air places colliding and crashing to the ground. The incident occurred at a Colombia Air Base in Apiay village in Colombia’s Meta.

The two air force pilots involved in the accident have both lost their lives, the Colombian Air Force confirmed.

‘Pilots don’t die…”: Air Force on Colombia accident

In a tweet posted in Spanish, the Fuerza Aerea Colombiana said, “The Colombian Air Force regrets to inform that two T-27 Tucano aircraft, on a training mission, crashed at the 2nd Air Combat Command. The investigation is underwar.”

The Air Force expressed their condolences to the deceased pilots. They added, “We express our condolences and solidarity to the family of the deceased pilot, Lieutenant Colonel Mario Andrés Espinosa González (RIP) and to each of the men and women of the Institution.”

The Air Force bid farewell to their fallen colleagues with the phrase “Pilots don’t die, they just fly higher”.
