Tipraha Indigenous Progressive Regional Alliance (TIPRA Motha) chief Pradyot Bikram Manikya Deb Barma on Tuesday announced that he has decided to quit politics and public life. In a video message published by Deb Barma, the royal scion is heard saying, “I don’t want to do politics anymore, I want to give something to the people. I have decided to give something to people and quit politics and public life…”
The action was taken two days after the TIPRA Motha president and other party officials requested Union Home Minister Amit Shah to provide a ‘Constitutional solution’ to their demand for ‘Greater Tipraland’ during a meeting on Saturday.
“We met with Union Home Minister Amit Shah to discuss a fundamental need for bigger Tipraland, a constitutional solution. We spoke with him and other leaders when we met them,” according to the leader of the TIPRA Motha Party.
According to Barma, his party wants the Tripura natives to live with dignity.
