Telangana Mahalaxmi Free Bus Scheme: The much-anticipated Mahalaxmi Free Bus Guarantee Scheme in Telangana is set to kick off tomorrow at 1:30 pm, with the inaugural ticket being handed to renowned Boxing champion Nikhat Zareen. Telangana State Road Transport Corporation (TSRTC) Managing Director, VC Sajjanar, announced the scheme's commencement and called on women and third-gender citizens to actively participate in making the programme a success.

Launch Details

Chief Minister of Telangana, Revanth Reddy, is slated to launch the scheme, covering 7292 buses and extending its benefits up to the state borders. VC Sajjanar highlighted that comprehensive briefings have been provided to all staff members, drivers, and conductors to ensure smooth implementation.

Encouraging Participation

In a media statement, Sajjanar urged women, girls, and third-gender citizens to utilise the scheme effectively, underlining the importance of their active involvement in the initiative's success.

Mahalaxmi Scheme Overview

The Mahalaxmi scheme, part of the Indian National Congress party's manifesto for Telangana, was announced on September 18. It promises free bus travel for women in Telangana, along with a monthly financial benefit of Rs 2500 under the Mahalaxmi Yojana. Additionally, the scheme includes a commitment to provide LPG cylinders at a subsidised rate of Rs 500.

Approval of Congress Party Guarantees

Following his oath-taking ceremony as the new Chief Minister of Telangana, Revanth Reddy approved all six guarantees promised by the Congress party in the state. This move solidifies the party's commitment to fulfilling its pre-election pledges.

Historic Moment for Telangana

In a historic development, Anumula Revanth Reddy assumed office as the Chief Minister of Telangana on Thursday. As the first Congress Chief Minister of the youngest state in India, Reddy's tenure is expected to bring significant changes and initiatives, starting with the rollout of the Mahalaxmi Free Bus Guarantee Scheme.

The launch of the free bus scheme represents a significant step towards women's empowerment and accessibility in Telangana, and the involvement of public figures like Nikhat Zareen adds a touch of inspiration to the inaugural event.
