Telangana government on Tuesday announced a significant discount on pending traffic challans, offering up to 90% relief to violators. The initiative was launched by the government on December 26, 2023, is a one-time settlement scheme valid until January 10, 2024.

According to the sources, this generous move, is the part of the initiative mentioned in the party’s manifesto, which ease the finance burden on the traffic rule violators. To take the advantage of the opportunity, individuals are encouraged to get their challans settles by visiting the official website.

The discounts are extended to RTC (Road Transport Corporation) drivers also.

Check out the breakdown of the discount structure

90% discount: Applicable for pushcarts and TSRTC buses. Only 10% of the original challan amount needs to be paid.
80% discount: Applicable for two-wheelers and three-wheelers. Pay just 20% of the original fine.
60% discount: Applicable for light motor vehicles (LMVs) and heavy vehicles. Clear your dues by paying 40% of the original challan.

This scheme presents a great opportunity for violators to settle their pending dues at a significantly reduced cost. It's also a commendable move by the government to encourage responsible traffic behaviour and reduce outstanding challan amounts.
The deadline for the challan’s waiver expires on January 10, 2024.

However, the waiver in certain conditions does not apply:

  • The discount applies only to pending challans issued before December 26, 2023.
  • No discount is available for certain serious traffic offenses like drunken driving or rash driving.
