The high-voltage campaign for the Telangana Assembly election will come to an end at 5 pm on Tuesday. The state is scheduled to go under polls on November 30. After witnessing the longest poll season compared to the other four states - Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Rajasthan where elections were already held.
According to the information, the model code of conduct came into force in the state soon after the Elections Commission of India announced the schedule on October 9.
While the Congress has been battling tooth and nail and has gone all out to make a comeback, and the BJP has spared no effort to gain power, the BRS is attempting to hold onto power for a third straight term.
As per official data, up to 2,290 candidates are running in the next elections, including BJP Lok Sabha members Bandi Sanjay Kumar, D Arvind, and Soyam Bapurao, BRS supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao, his minister-son KT Rama Rao, and TPCC president A Revanth Reddy.
KCR will be contesting from two segments-Gajwel and Kamareddy- as is Revanth Reddy-Kodangal and Kamareddy. Whereas on the other hand, the BJP has fielded its MLA, Etala Rajender, from Gajwel, besides Huzurabad, where he is the incumbent legislator.
Meanwhile, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has been addressing public meetings during the campaign period, besides a roadshow in Hyderabad on Monday amid huge fanfare. PM Modi also took his X handle to share the pictures.
The results for the assembly elections in all the five states are scheduled to be declared on December 3.
