Telangana Assembly Elections: BJP ahead of Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM

The BJP has overshadowed Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM, which has command over the Hyderabad region.

The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appears to strengthen its footprint in Telangana. Amid the ongoing counting of votes in the southern state, the party is leading in 8 seats. In the 2018 elections, the national party had won only a single seat in Telangana.

The BJP has overshadowed Asaduddin Owaisi's AIMIM, which has command over the  Hyderabad region. AIMIM is leading on six seats. 

Congress uproots BRS in Telangana

While the Indian National Congress (INC) is leading in 63 seats and appears to be winning the elections. Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) is ahead in 41 seats and the Communist Party of India is leading in 1 seat in the state.

After a commanding result in the assembly polls, state Congress Committee president Revanth Reddy will reach Gandhi Bhavan to participate in celebrations with the party workers. He is leading in both Kodangal and Kamareddy seats in assembly polls.

After the early trends predicted the victory of Congress,  he also took out a road show in Telangana's capital. The workers can be seen bursting crackers and distributing sweets outside the party's office.

Meanwhile, Telangana CM KCR is leading from the Gajwel seat but trailing on the Kamareddy seat. AIMIM chief  Akbaruddin Owaisi is leading from the Chandrayangutta seat and Mir Zulfeqar Ali is leading from the Charminar seat. The state went into vote on November 30.

Earlier in the 2018 elections, the BRS won 88 of the 119 seats while Congress had won only 19 seats.
