Telangana Assembly Elections 2023: As Telangana gears up for the 3rd Assembly elections which will be held in a single phase on November 30th, voters need to be aware of substantial options to exercise their democratic rights if they don't possess a Voter ID. The counting of votes will be held on December 3. All 119 constituency will underway polling. 

Earlier, the high-octane campaign for Telangana Assembly polls ended on November 28. The state witnessed the longest poll season as compared to the other four states including Mizoram, Madhya Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, and Mizoram. 

Voter ID cards and voter slips are issued by the Election Commission of India (ECI). Although the former is the official form of identity, other options are available. 

No voter ID? No problem! Alternative documents you can use to vote

Passport: To vote, you must present a valid photo ID proof, such as an international passport.

Driving License: At the polling place, your driving license can be used as identification.

Service Identity Card: Your service identity card is sufficient enough to cast vote, if you work for the government, either at the state or federal levels.

PAN Card: A legitimate document that can be used to vote is the Permanent Account Number (PAN) card.

Aadhaar Card: Another document that can be used to vote is the government-issued Aadhaar card.

Passbook: A valid form of identification is the passbook that you can obtain at a bank or post office.

Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act (MGNREGA) Job Card: This card is recognized as a valid form of employment by the government and can be used to cast vote.

Health Insurance Card: A legitimate form of identification, the health insurance card is issued by the Ministry of Labor.

Pension Document: Any pension record that includes a picture is accepted to cast vote.

Voter Slip with Authenticated Photo: You can use the voter slip with an authenticated photo issued by the Election Commission as a valid document.

Official Identity Cards: MPs, MLAs, and MLCs may vote using the identity cards.

Public Limited Firms' Passbooks: Public limited firms' passbooks are accepted.

Pension Document with Photo: Pension documents with photos attached are acceptable forms of identification.

Notably, even in the absence of a voter ID, you must be a registered voter. It should show your name on the electoral rolls. To sign up, utilize Form 6.

Form 6: What is it?

The Indian Election Commission (ECI) provides Form 6, an application form, to citizens who want to add their names to the electoral roll. For those shifting constituencies, it is essential. Form 6 is available in PDF format on the ECI website (www.eci.nic.in). Download, print, and turn it into your local polling place's Booth Level Officer or Electoral Registration Officer's office, both online and offline.
