Telangana Assembly Elections 2023: The curtains have closed on the campaigning for the Telangana Assembly elections, leaving the stage to the voters. As the state gears up for voting on all 119 seats, the Congress party is making a strategic move, drawing inspiration from the political formula that secured its victory in Karnataka six months ago.

In a bid to defeat the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) in Telangana, Congress has replicated the political strategy that proved successful in Karnataka. Key leaders who played pivotal roles in Karnataka's triumph have been fielded in Telangana, as the party aims for a victory.

Karnataka Leaders Campaign Vigorously

In its bid to secure power in Telangana, Congress has brought in leaders who were instrumental in Karnataka's success. Notable figures, including Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah and Deputy CM DK Shivakumar, campaigned extensively in Telangana. Congress aims to leverage the success formula that worked on the Karnataka-Telangana border.

Congress Sets Ambitious Target

With an eye on 75 plus seats out of the total 119, Congress is relying on leaders from Karnataka and Telangana to achieve this ambitious goal. Karnataka Deputy CM DK Shivakumar is overseeing election management, while CM Siddaramaiah is focusing on winning OBC votes in Telangana.

Karnataka's Adjacent Seats in Focus

Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, hailing from the Karnataka region bordering Telangana, has been assigned crucial responsibilities. Seats like Mahabubnagar, Nalgonda, and Mendhak in Telangana, adjacent to Karnataka, have been strategically placed under his supervision.

Strategic Moves for Voter Support

Revanth Reddy, entrusted with the command of Congress in Telangana, aims to sway upper-caste votes. Congress also eyes the support of Dalits, tribals, and Muslims through its Leader of the Opposition Mallu Bhatti Vikramarka.

Meanwhile, DK Shivakumar is focusing on employment guarantees, promising to implement the successful Karnataka model in Telangana.

Congress Counteracts KCR's Promises

In response to Telangana Chief Minister KCR's promises, Congress has laid out six guarantees, asserting that they will be more than mere promises. Leaders, including Rahul Gandhi and Priyanka Gandhi, emphasise the implementation of these guarantees, mirroring the successful schemes in Karnataka.

As Telangana heads to the polls, Congress has unleashed a calculated political manoeuvre, hoping to recreate its Karnataka triumph. The success of this strategic move remains to be seen as voters decide the fate of the state. Will Congress secure a victory in Telangana using the Karnataka playbook? Only time will tell.
