New Telangana Chief Minister: Telangana Congress chief, A Revanth Reddy, is poised to become the next Chief Minister of the state, as confirmed by Congress General Secretary KC Venugopal. The swearing-in ceremony for the new government is scheduled for December 7, marking a significant political transition in the region.

The decision to appoint Revanth Reddy as the leader of the Congress Legislative Party (CLP) in Telangana was made by Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge. This move follows a comprehensive report submitted by AICC in-charge of the state, Manikrao Thakare, and the party's special observer, after a meeting with the newly-elected MLAs.

"Congress President has decided to go with Revanth Reddy as the new CLP of the Telangana Legislative Party. The swearing-in ceremony of the new Telangana CM is to be held on December 7," announced Venugopal.

Political Background

Revanth Reddy, known for his vocal opposition to outgoing Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao, played a pivotal role in leading the Congress's electoral campaign in the state. The Congress secured an absolute majority, clinching 64 out of 119 seats, marking a historic win.

The Telangana Rashtra Samithi (TRS), which had governed the state for a decade, secured 38 seats. The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) and the All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen (AIMIM) secured eight and seven seats, respectively. Revanth Reddy, currently an MP from Malkajgiri, assumed the role of the president of the Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee in June 2021, succeeding N. Uttam Kumar Reddy.

The impending change in leadership signals a significant shift in Telangana's political landscape, with Revanth Reddy expected to bring his distinct approach to governance as he takes the reins on December 7.
