Gangamanim, a tribal woman, from the remotely located area of Thulasipet village of Pembi Mandal went into labour and was forced to deliver her baby boy on the side of the road after being stranded there for a reported four hours.

According to the sources, she delivered her baby near Telangana‘s Nirmal district after she was carried across a stream while in labour. The ambulance that was supposed to pick her up had run out of diesel.

Gangamanim’s husband said that they called up the ambulance when his wife went into labour but due to lack of road connectivity, ambulance could not reach them. With the help of villagers, they tried to reach the other side but then ambulance reported that they have run out of diesel.

Her husband also claims that they transferred them Rs 500 but they did not reach. Subsequently, an ambulance after calling at 108 arrived and cut the umbilical cord and shifted the woman and child to the nearby hospital.

However, the district collector refused all the claims made by the man and said that the due date of the delivery was September 22. And, due to lack of connectivity to the area, they advise people to shift to the hospital in advance. The officer acknowledged that there was no road connectivity to Thulasipet village after a bridge was washed away in floods last year.
