A senior leader of Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and his 19-year-old son died in a road accident on Saturday while travelling from Narsingi to Chegunta in Telangana, the police said.

The deceased victims have been identified as 45-year-old Kethavath Thourya Nayak and his 19-year-old son Ankit.

Nayak was a former BRS President in Narsingi and had also functioned as the former chairman of the Primary Agriculture Cooperative Society of Narsingi Mandal and former MPTC of Narsampally village in the Mandal.

The accident took place on the national highway at Valluru village in Narsingi Mandal, which falls under the Narsingi police station limits, on Saturday morning.

Car hit divider after losing control, hit by lorry: Cops on BRS leader’s death

Detailing how the accident took place, police officers at the Narsingi station said, “Thourya Nayak and his son Ankit, while they were travelling from Narsingi village to Chegunta, their car tyre burst, lost control and the car ran over the divider and fell on the opposite side of the road where a lorry hit the car.

“Both died on the spot. Bodies have been shifted to Ramayanpet government hospital.”

The police had to extract the mangled bodies of the victims from their vehicle, and the bodies were transferred to the Community Health Centre in Toopran for postmortem. The police have registered a case under relevant sections of the IPC.
