The Greater Noida police have come under fire after a man, Kishore Govinda, was allegedly beaten up by police officers for being a wrong informer in a bike robbery case. The incident happened on February 22 when the police, unable to find any clue of the robbers, picked up Govinda from his house based on the information provided by an informer.

His uncle, Pushpendra, filed a complaint at the Ecotech-1 Kotwali to file a case against the accused inspector and constable for their actions. However, the police have not registered the case, and the officers have allegedly convinced the family not to file a case. The victim committed suicide post the incident, which is shocking and has raised concern in society.

Outrage from Political Parties

The incident has sparked outrage from various political parties, with Rajkumar Bhati, the National Spokesperson for SP, demanding that a case be registered against the accused policemen for pressuring the victim to commit suicide and extortion.

Dinesh Sharma, the District President of BJP, also condemned the police’s behaviour, stating that police brutality has become the pastime of the police.

Janardan Bhati, the District President of National Lok Dal, further criticised the BJP government, stating that the police’s arbitrary attitude is not new and that the victims must receive justice.

Police as Dictators

This incident has raised concerns over police brutality in Greater Noida, with some claiming that the police have become dictators and are torturing common people. The incident in Greater Noida is not isolated, with similar incidents happening in other parts of the country. The political parties have promised to resolve the issue and demand justice for the victims.

Conclusion

The incident highlights the need for police reform and training to ensure they do not resort to violence and brutality when dealing with citizens. The police must be held accountable for their actions, and those responsible for the incident in Greater Noida must be brought to justice. The incident has also brought attention to the need for citizens to be aware of their rights and seek legal action when necessary.
