The dead body of a government school teacher, Rajiv Srivastava, who went missing on the day of Holi, has been found in the Betwa river near Baruasagar in Jhansi. His bike was found on the river bridge, and the police are assuming it to be a case of suicide.

Disappearance and Discovery

Rajiv Srivastava, a resident of Shivpuri, left his house at 10:30 am on the day of Holi to play the festival with friends. When he did not return home, his son called him, but his phone was switched off. After waiting some time, the family searched for him and filed a missing person report with the local police.

Three days after his disappearance, the police found Rajiv Srivastava’s dead body under the new bridge of the Betwa river in Baruasagar. Police found his bike on the bridge and recovered his Aadhaar card, purse, and mobile from the body.

Assumption of suicide

The police assumed it to be a case of suicide as they found no injury marks on the body. However, family and friends are raising doubts about the situation. Coming 130 kilometres from home by bike and finding the dead body in the river raises suspicions.

Family and Background

Rajiv Srivastava was a 48-year-old teacher in a government school in Lakhangwan village, 15 km from Shivpuri. His wife, Mamta, is also a government teacher, and they have two sons. There was no dispute or enmity with anyone as per the family and friends.

Post-Mortem in process

The relatives of Rajiv Srivastava reached Jhansi after the police identified the dead body from his Aadhaar card. The police have started the post-mortem action by filling the FIR and panchnama. Doctors will do the post-mortem of the dead body in the post-mortem house of the Medical College.
