To improve 150 ITIs in the state, the Uttar Pradesh government and Tata Technologies have inked a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) worth more than Rs 5,000 crore.
Yogi Adityanath, the chief minister of Uttar Pradesh, claimed that the state’s department of skill development is ushering in a new era where kids will not only be skilled but also made fit for contemporary industry demands.
With the Memorandum of Association (MoA), an enhanced platform will be available to enhance the skills of the youth of the state, he said.
Tata Technologies, which is well known for its global engineering and digital services will be helping the Uttar Pradesh government in modernising the 150 government-owned ITIs across 75 districts in the state as a part of an initiative to conceive and complement the nation-building efforts. Post upgradation these ITIs will not only cater to advanced skill requirements of students as well as prospective employers but also act as a technology hub for large, small and medium enterprises (MSME).
One of the largest states in India, Uttar Pradesh has a large pool of unskilled, skilled, and semi-skilled workers. the state government has been taking initiatives to provide upskilling opportunities under CTS (Craftsmen Training Scheme), Uttar Pradesh Skill Development Mission and Sabko Hunar Sabko Kaam.
With a total investment of Rs 4887 crore, this project will transform existing facilities with approximately 10,000 square feet of space under UP government. This upgradation of ITIs will offer 6 new trades with 23 new short-term courses, catering to the industry demands. It will give the training to over one lakh 20 thousand students annually.
Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath while sharing his thoughts on the project said, “The transformation of ITIs in UP to Industry 4.0 Technology hubs is a significant step towards positioning Uttar Pradesh as an investment destination of choice for the manufacturing industry. We already have the best talent in Uttar Pradesh, and this project will upskill our talent and create employment opportunities for the youth.” He further added, “Moving with the times, we also have to join training programs related to new technology, so the state government is signing an MoA amounting to Rs 5472 crore with Tata Technologies today.”

Industry 4.0, Product Design & Development, Product Verification and Virtual Analysis, Design for Artisans and Handicrafts, Additive Manufacturing (3D printing), Modern Automotive Maintenance Repair and Overhaul, Battery Electric Vehicle Training, IoT and Digital Instrumentation, Process Control and Automation with HMI, PLC SCADA, Advanced Manufacturing and Prototyping, Industry 4.0, and other fields will all benefit from the upgrading and modernization of the ITIs.
The project will begin in the month of March this year and expected to get ready between January and March next year. this project will help in creating better learning environment for youth to meet the industry needs and along with this it will also help in improving industrial training and education.
