Goods worth Rs 100 crores gutted in fire in Tamil Nadu

The Joint Director of the Tamil Nadu Fire Department, Priya Ravichandran, reached the spot and inspected the efforts to douse the fire.

A fire broke out at a soap powder godown in the Vayakadu area of Manali, North Chennai. According to the officials, goods worth Rs 100 crore have been gutted in fire after the incident. 

Soon after getting the information, five fire tenders were rushed to the spot to extinguish the fire.

As per sources, the area is surrounded by the sugarcane fields and a gas cylinder factory of the Indian Oil Company is also located near the site. The operations to douse the fire is still on. 

Meanwhile, the Manali police has initiated an investigation in the case. The Joint Director of the Tamil Nadu Fire Department, Priya Ravichandran also reached the spot and inspected the efforts to douse the fire.

The cause of fire is yet to be ascertained. More details are awaited.
