Vinod and Ramesh, two career criminals, were killed in a police shootout at Guduvanchery, outside of Chennai, at around midnight.

Police allege that an SUV being driven by a four-person gang struck a patrol party when it stopped at Guduvanchery, outside of Chennai’s Tambaram city in Tamil Nadu. The gang allegedly also attacked the police and threw a bomb that was built in the country at them.

“A Sub-inspector and an Inspector then started firing at this point. Two guys were hurt and transferred to the government hospital in Chengalpattu, where they were later pronounced dead. The other two got away,” Additional Commissioner of Police Pa Moorthy said.

According to authorities, both males are charged with murder and assault. Sources also claim that one officer has suffered injury and is being treated at the nearest hospital.
