A 39-year-old man has been arrested by police after making hoax call at Tirupati temple for killing 100 people on August 15.
According to the police officials, the man has been identified as B Balaji, who hailed from Salem in Tamil Nadu. He made the call at around 11.25 am on August 15 at the control room of the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanam (TTD) in Alipiri.
As per release, the man threatened to detonate a bomb at Alipiri at 3 pm when he contacted the check post’s landline number from his phone. He spoke out in a menacing manner, “The blast could kill at least 100 devotees.”
At the Alipiri checkpoint, a thorough examination was conducted after the call. However, throughout the security checks, no bombs were discovered.
The police after this registered the case and started the investigation and found that the call was fake. After tracing the accused on Saturday, he confessed that he made the hoax call.
