A head-on collision between two buses in the Cuddalore region of Tamil Nadu resulted in 4 deaths and 70 injuries (as of 4PM IST).

The incident, which killed people in the district of Cuddalore, happened at Pattambakkam near Nellikuppam. According to the information, two private buses running between Panruti and Cuddalore collided when the incident happened.

One of the buses experienced a front tyre blowout, which resulted in a loss of control and a head-on collision with another bus approaching from the other direction.

The injured were taken to Cuddalore Government Hospital by the commuters before ambulances arrived.

Taking it to Twitter, the chief minister of Tamil Nadu MK Stalin, announced ex gratia payments of ₹2 lakh to the relatives of the deceased and ₹50,000 to those who are receiving medical care. He mentioned, “Hon’ble Chief Minister @mkstalin has announced condolence and financial assistance to the families of those who died in road accident in Cuddalore district.”
