Delhi Commission for Women (DCW) chief Swati Maliwal slept on the hospital’s floor, where the minor who was allegedly raped by a government official, is admitted on Monday night. She alleged that the police did not allow her to meet the rape survivor and her mother, accusing them of indulging in ‘hooliganism.’
The DCW chief raised serious questions that why she was not being allowed to meet the 17-year-old and her mother.
Briefing about her ordeal, Maliwal told news agency ANI, “Delhi Police is indulging in hooliganism. They are neither allowing me to meet the girl nor her mother. I can’t understand what the Delhi Police want to hide from me. I have been told that the National Commission for Protection of Child Rights (NCPCR) chairperson was allowed to meet the girl’s mother.”
Meanwhile, she left the hospital today at noon.

“When the NCPCR chairperson can meet the mother, why is the DCW chief not being allowed to do the same?” she asked.
Since Monday noon the DCW chief has been at the hospital and said she would not leave unless she met the minor survivor.
“I want to know whether she is getting all the possible help or not and whether she is getting proper treatment or not,” she said.

Reportedly, Premoday Khakha, a deputy director of the Delhi government’s women and child development department, raped the minor several times between November 2020 and January 2021, said police officials. His wife aided him and gave the minor abortion pills to terminate her pregnancy at home.
On Monday, the accused and his wife were arrested after questioning.
Meanwhile, the DCW has also asked the Delhi Police to provide a copy of the FIR along with the details of the arrests. It has also sought the details of action taken by the Delhi government against the officer.
She also sought details of complaints made against the accused official in past and take immediate action against those in that connection. The Delhi Police and the city government have been directed to provide their reports by Wednesday.
Premoday Khakha was sacked immediately after an order issued by Chief Secretary Naresh Kumar on Monday. Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal had ordered the chief secretary to suspend the officer.
According to the order, during the suspension period, the officer is not permitted to leave the department headquarters without obtaining prior permission.
