The much-awaited two-day ‘Swar Dharohar’ Festival, organised by the Ministry of Culture and ‘Swar Dharohar Foundation’ will be witnessing an assemblage of young as well as seasoned artists on Saturday. The event will take place at India Gate at 6 PM.

The festival boasts of amalgamating music, art and literature and aims to uplift the upcoming talent by providing a platform to perform. Also, it gives experienced artists an opportunity to captivate their followers on the same stage.

About today’s performances

On Saturday, eminent violin player Deepak Pandit will be staging his renditions. Deepak is a classical and fusion musician. He started learning Hindustani classical, vocal and violin from his father when he was six years old.

One of the most esteemed violinists of the country, Deepak was associated with gazal maestro late Jagjit Singh since 1989. He is credited to have arranged as many as 70 odd albums for him. He assisted Jagjit Singh in composing the famous album ‘Samvedna’ where Jagjit Singh lent his voice to Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s poems.  He says that this project is still close to his heart.

Post this, ‘Bandish Bandits’ fame Fareed Hassan and Mehboob Hussain will be engaging the audience. Fareed Hassan hails from the musical lineage of the famous Dilli Gharana, and has been surrounded by renowned artists since his birth. “Taan Samrat” Ustad Naseer Ahmed Khan was his maternal grandfather. He is the paternal grandson of sarangi maestro Ustad Mohammad Ahmed Banney Khan and the eldest son of Nizamuddin Khan. He was also among the finalists in Saregamapa Singing Superstar 2010. Mehboob Hussain is another torch bearer of the same gharana.

After the musical duo, a talented budding singer Ahmed Husain Sabri will be performing on the Swar Dharohar stage. His Sufi rendition will be followed by a scintillating performance by Altamash Faridi who is credited to have sung some soulful songs in Bollywood films.
