A six-year-old girl who had been abducted in Mumbai was freed from a train on Wednesday, in the Buldhana region of Maharashtra, which is almost 500 kilometers away, according to authorities. Police reported that a joint team of the Railway Protection Force (RPF), Railway Police, and Shegaon Police also managed to apprehend 33-year-old Rathinshankar Ghosh, a kidnapper from Kolkata who is accused of taking the girl hostage.The official statementRanveer Singh, a senior police inspector, said the RPF had gotten information from the Mumbai police that a female had been abducted by a guy from Nagpada in Mumbai, and that the kidnapper had boarded the Shalimar Express for Kolkata based on CCTV footage.Operation unveiledWhen security guards at the Shegaon station thoroughly searched the train, they discovered Ghosh hiding in a lavatory. According to the police, Ghosh admitted to them that he had previously used the lavatory as cover at other stations as well. However, the police insisted that he emerge at the Shegaon station.The suspect was questioned by RPFs Ranjan Telang and Vinod Ingle. Ghosh finally took them to the girl in the trains unreserved compartment. He had convinced her to lie down on the top berth and covered her with a bed sheet.The police are also investigating whether Ghosh of Kolkata was involved in a larger human trafficking racket or not.
