Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Manisha Kayande joined the Shiv Sena party led by the chief minister of Maharashtra Eknath Shinde on Sunday, claiming that Uddhav Thackeray is unable to receive feedback on party issues. She said that women in the Thackeray faction are allegedly being asked for money.

Noteworthy here is that Manisha Kayande’s crossover occurs on the eve of the Shiv Sena’s founding day and is the second shock in two days for the Thackeray-led side. Senior leader Shishir Shinde also resigned from the party a day earlier.

Kayande stated in a speech she made at a gathering after joining the organisation in nearby Thane that she waited for a year to see whether the Thackeray-led group would reflect on why party members were departing Shiv Sena (UBT).

The Shiv Sena appointed Kayande as both its spokeswoman and secretary. “The Shiv Sena led by Eknath Shinde is the original Sena which belongs to Balasaheb Thackeray,” she further added.

Kayande also said that the Shinde government has been working well since it has come into power last June.

She also lashed out and criticised Sanjay Raut, an MP for the Shiv Sena (UBT), and Sushma Andhare, the party’s head, for promoting the NCP and Congress’s agendas without specifically mentioning them.

“People who talk every morning criticising others, push the agenda of Congress and NCP and speak against Hindu gods and goddesses cannot be the face of Shiv Sena,” she said.

According to Kayande, after the 2019 elections, no one in the party, who joined Shiv Sena (Undivided) in 2012, was in favour of an alliance with Congress and the NCP.

On July 27, 2024, her time as a member of the state Legislative Council will come to an end. Currently, she is a Legislative Assembly quota member.
