Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor has been appointed as new Director-General of Police (DGP) by the Haryana Government. The 1990-batch IPS officer Kapoor has succeeded PK Agarwal who retired yesterday on the completion of a two-year term.According to the sources, Kapoors appointment came 6 days after the Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) empanelment committee met and shortlisted three IPS officers: Muhammad Akil (1988 batch), Dr Ramesh Chandra Mishra (1989 batch) and Shatrujeet Singh Kapoor (1990 batch), for the Haryana DGPs post.The confirmation of Kapoors appointment came on Tuesday when the Home Minister Anil Vij gave the approval after signing the documents to the chief minister ML Khattar. He will take charge from Agarwal at the Haryana Police Headquarters in Panchkula on Wednesday.Before this, Kapoor was the front-runner for the position and had been assigned as DG, Vigilance. On the day the selection process began, his selection was almost certain.
