The extension order was issued by a bench of Justice Abhay Ahuja and MM Sathaye, who provided the interim protection to from any coercive action.

It should be mentioned that Wankhede is the subject of a recent FIR filed by the CBI for reportedly requesting a Rs 25 crore bribe in exchange for avoiding implicating Bollywood celebrity Aryan Khan’s son in the Cordelia cruise drug case. Following this, the investigation agency, acting on a complaint from the Narcotics Control Bureau (NCB), has arrested Wankhede and four other people for an alleged criminal conspiracy, an extortion threat, and violations of the Prevention of Corruption Act related to bribery.

The court also determined that chats between Wankhede and Shah Rukh Khan (SRK), in which SRK was requesting him going easy with his son, Aryan Khan and not let his son be in the jail, as it would destroy his spirit.

On October 3, 2021, the NCB detained Aryan Khan following a raid on the cruise liner Cordelia. After three weeks, the Bombay High Court granted him bail since the NCB was unable to support its allegations against him.
