JP Nadda, the national president of Bhartiya Janata Party (BJP) on Sunday took the stock of the situation caused due incessant rains and landslides in Himachal Pradesh. The calamity has reportedly taken 78 lives and caused the destruction of over ₹10,000 crore in the state.

The party president Nadda along with Union Minister Anurag Thakur arrived at Annadale helipad in Shimla on Sunday morning and took stock of the devastation caused by heavy rains and floods in Himachal Pradesh.

While talking to media persons, Nadda said, “I got a chance to come here and visit the places affected due to heavy rains and floods. I am saddened by the loss that this calamity has caused. All efforts are being made by the administration to provide all necessary help to those affected.”

According to the official information, the team of leaders have reached the state and is also scheduled to meet the family members of the people who have lost their lives in the natural calamity.

The state government has called the disaster ‘a natural calamity’. As per reports, a total of 2,022 houses have been fully damaged, whereas 9,615 houses have been partially damaged, with 113 landslides in the state this year.

Nadda will also visit the Summer Hill temple collapse area in Shimla, where the rescue is till on. Notably, 17 dead bodies have been recovered from the area and the search for missing is still on.
