The Mainpuri district in Uttar Pradesh has witnessed a surge in asthma patients, with the district hospital seeing a massive influx of patients seeking treatment for respiratory disease. This surge has created serious concern among doctors trying to understand the reason behind this surge. Recently, over 600 patients reported the same condition, of which 19 were found to be quite serious.
The incident of two patients dying from asthma highlights the urgency of addressing the issue. The deceased patients, 82-year-old GK Singh from Mohalla Balajipuram and 75-year-old Rameshwar Singh from Nagalagadhu of the Kuravli police station area, had been suffering from the disease for a few days and were undergoing treatment with a private doctor. However, their condition worsened, and they were rushed to the district hospital, where they were declared dead.
On Saturday, the hospital received 692 patients in the outpatient department, many suffering from asthma. This has raised concerns among residents, and medical professionals in the area as asthma cases continue to increase.
The emergency ward of the district hospital was overwhelmed with patients, and 19 were admitted in critical condition. Four were later referred to Medical College, Saifai, for further treatment when their condition deteriorated. The Chief Medical Superintendent, Dr. Madanlal, confirmed that both the deceased patients were brought dead to the hospital.
