Phone Tapping Controversy: In a startling revelation, Lokesh Sharma, Officer on Special Duty (OSD) to the outgoing Rajasthan Chief Minister Ashok Gehlot, asserted that the Congress government in the state had been monitoring the activities of party leader Sachin Pilot, including tapping his phone.

The alleged surveillance occurred when Pilot was stationed at Manesar with 18 party MLAs in 2020, according to Sharma.

Monitoring During Political Crisis

Lokesh Sharma, speaking to ANI, explained that during the political crisis in Rajasthan, where Sachin Pilot and MLAs were stationed in Manesar, the state government, on Ashok Gehlot's instructions, tracked their movements and tapped Pilot's phone. The monitoring aimed to keep track of Pilot's whereabouts, meetings, and phone conversations to take corrective measures, he claimed.

Claimed Impact on Government Stability

Sharma emphasised that the monitoring played a crucial role in saving the Congress government in the state. He stated, "It was because of the monitoring that we could bring some people back. He was also being chased, and all his movements were tracked. I believe Sachin Pilot was aware of this and that he is being monitored."

Call for Change in Congress

Lokesh Sharma underscored the need for the Congress party to introduce new and young faces to counter the BJP effectively. He suggested that promoting young leaders with the motivation to work hard would enhance the party's performance.

"We have to face a huge challenge against the BJP. The time has come for a change. Young faces have to be promoted. It will improve our performance. The need to bring young faces who have the motivation to do hard work," he said.

Recent Electoral Outcome

The Congress recently suffered defeat to the BJP in the Rajasthan Assembly polls, with the BJP securing victory on 115 seats out of 200, while the Congress managed to win only 69 seats.
