A collision between a car and a bus in Rajasthan’s Banthadi village late on Saturday night has left seven members of a single family dead and two others, including a child, seriously injured, police officials said.

The fatal accident occurred when a car travelling from Sikar collided with a bus at a turn in Titri Chauraha in Banthadi village.

Seven individuals were declared dead on the spot and two others, including a minor child, sustained severe injuries. The injured have been transferred to Jaipur for further treatment after receiving initial care at Government Bangar Hospital in Didwana.

Dharamchand Punia, the Station Officer (SO), Didwana, said, “A van was going from Sikar with 9 passengers travelling in it. There was a sharp turn on the road due to which there is a possibility the drivers didn’t see the other vehicle and collided with each other, rest will be declared after investigation.”

The victims, all hailing from Sikar district and belonging to the same family, were en route from Sikar to Nagaur to attend a wedding ceremony when tragedy struck.

The incident prompted swift action from local authorities and leaders. Didwana MLA Chetan Dudi, Didwana District Collector Sitaram Jat, Additional District Collector Sheoram Verma, Deputy Superintendent of Police Dharmchand Poonia, and BJP leader Jitendra Singh Jodha rushed to the hospital to oversee treatment and provide necessary instructions.
