In a press conference on Saturday, Member of Parliament Raghav Chadha made serious allegations against the Modi government, saying that the BJP has been trying to topple the AAP government in Delhi.

He said that the Bhartiya Janta Party has been blackmailing and threatening the AAP MLAs to leave their party and join the BJP. They have been threatening to leave AAP or else false cases will be filed against them by ED and CBI and they would be put in jail.

He also lashed out at the BJP for making a mockery of the democratic process and trying to bring about a No-Confidence Motion in the Delhi Vidhan Sabha. He said, “Everyone is aware that there are 70 legislative seats in the Delhi Vidhan Sabha and for any one political party to form the government, it needs a minimum of 36 seats – one seat more than the halfway mark of 35 seats.”

According to Shri Raghav Chadha, the Aam Aadmi Party has 62 MLAs in the Vidhan Sabha whereas the BJP has only 8 MLAs. This is due to the affection and support of Delhi residents. He emphasised that even though the AAP holds approximately 90 percent of the seats in the Vidhan Sabha and the BJP only has 10 percent, the BJP is so conceited that it is seeking to introduce a No-Confidence Motion against the government.

Making a direct attack on BJP, Raghav Chadha said that despite not having the support of the residents of Delhi, BJP is trying to threaten the MLAs of AAP and trying to get them into AAP. He pointed out that the BJP has previously used this tactic to form a government despite not having the majority given by the people in states such as Maharashtra and Madhya Pradesh.

Raghav Chadha highlighted how Delhi’s citizens had repeatedly rejected the BJP in the National Capital. He claimed that in the 25 years that Delhi has held elections, the BJP has lost each and every one of them. The BJP went on to lose the past three Delhi elections that AAP participated in, in 2013, 2015, and 2020. He claimed that after falling short each time over the past 25 years, the BJP has not yet learned its lesson and is still attempting to use deception to take power in Delhi.

He further added that “BJP is trying to break the MLAs of the ruling party by misusing the powers of ED and CBI. AAP MLAs have been given the example of Shri Manish Sisodia and threatened.” “If a senior leader like Shri Manish Sisodia can be jailed, then you are just an ordinary MLA. Just imagine what we can do to you. Our MLAs are being threatened and blackmailed to join the BJP, and if they refuse then they are told that they will be jailed for a prolonged period. This is what the leaders of the BJP have been doing in Delhi,” he said.

He lastly added, “AAP was born out of a movement. We are a revolution. BJP can’t do any harm to us.”
