A shocking incident has been surfaced from Punjab’s Jalandhar where a family of five people died by suicide in their house on Sunday. According to the police officials, the victims took the extreme step since they were in debt.

The five family members who died have been identified as Manmohan Singh (55), his wife Sarabjit Kaur, their two daughters, Jyoti (32) and Gopi (31), and Jyoti's daughter Aman (3).

The incident came into light when Manmohan Singh's son-in-law Sarabjit Singh claimed that he had been attempting to call the family for some time but no one had answered.

When Sarabjit Singh arrived at their home, he discovered that Jyoti, Gopi, and Aman's bodies were on the bed and that Manmohan Singh and his wife were hanging by the ceiling fan.

Soon after getting the information about the incident, Adampur Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) Vijay Kunwar Singh and Police Station Head Manjeet Singh arrived at the scene around 8:20 pm, where they found a suicide note.

The officials revealed that the family was fed up with disputes and debt that led to the extreme step.

The Police officials further revealed that all the victims had injury marks on their necks and said it appeared that all of them died by hanging and suspect that someone might have hanged them. Now, their bodies have been sent to Jalandhar Civil Hospital for post-mortem.
