How did Punjab Police DSP Dalbir Singh die?

According to police sources, a team of officers detained the auto driver late Wednesday night. The auto driver, identified as Vijay Kumar, allegedly murdered DSP Dalbir Singh with a government-issued firearm. Authorities seized Kumar whilst he was operating his auto rickshaw.

The arrest came after police examined footage from several CCTV cameras in the area. One recording showed the victim entering an auto rickshaw. Authorities noted the vehicle's number plate and tracked its possible routes, leading them to the suspect.

Per sources, DSP Dalbir Singh met the auto driver and drank alcohol with him at an illegal liquor shop at Kapurthala Chowk. In an inebriated condition, DSP Dalbir Singh allegedly handed his pistol to the auto driver and hurled abuses. Amidst their heated argument, the accused, Vijay Kumar, used Singh's service pistol to fatally shoot him in the head.
