A 45-year-old woman teacher died after the school roof collapsed in Punjab’s Ludhiana. According to the officials, when the incident happened on Wednesday, four teachers were sitting a room of government school at Baddowal on Ferozepur Road.

As per police officials, out of four teachers one of them lost her life while three others were injured in the incident. However, the reason for the incident is not known yet.

Taking note of the situation, the Chief Minister of Punjab Bhagwant Mann ordered a magisterial probe and asked the officials to register an FIR against the contractor who was carrying out renovation work on the school premises.

Meanwhile, taking it to Twitter, Punjab government has expressed its grief on the incident, saying, “School Education Minister @HarjotBains expressed grief over death of SS Teacher Ravinder Kaur posted at Govt Senior Secondary School Badowal (District Ludhiana). Minister said that with death of Ravinder Kaur, her family as well as Education Dept has suffered irreparable loss.”

Deputy Superintendent of Police Deepkaran Singh Toor said that soon after the incident was reported, all four of them were rushed to a private hospital where teacher Ravinder Kaur was declared brought dead.

The other three injured teachers have been identified as Narinderjeet Kaur, Sukhjeet Kaur and Indu Rani who are undergoing treatment and they were stated to be out of danger.

Taking it to cognizance, the safety assessment of the school has been ordered and the building has been sealed till further notice. In addition to this, the localities have been urged not to go near the building till the incident is under probe.
