Reportedly, the three girls had been missing since Sunday night at Maqsudan Police Station by their parents when they did not find them home after returning from work, according to the police.

The family of the migrant labourer had five children, said the police.

The deceased trio were identified as 4-year-old Kanchan, 7-year-old Shakti and 9-year-old Amrita, they said.

All three bodies were sent for autopsy to ascertain the cause of the death, the officers said.

How the bodies were found?

This matter came to light when the father of the girls was shifting household items on Monday and found the trunk heavier than usual.

When he opened the trunk, he found his three daughters inside, police said.

As per the police, the father of the girls had recently received an ultimatum from his landlord to vacate the house over his drinking habit.

Following this incident, a probe has been launched to look into the matter, they added.
