Dream11 is one of the mostly-played mobile games, in which you can make money. What if you earn a whopping amount while playing this betting game? You will be the happiest, right? But, here’s a scenario, which made a sub-inspector with Pune Police, become a millionaire by winning Rs 1.5 crore in Dream11, but ended up losing his post. Shocking right? It happened as Pune’s Pimpri-Chinchwad Police took action against him on charges of misconduct and tarnishing the image of the police department.

Pune sub-inspector suspended after winning millions on Dream11

The sub-inspector, Somnath Jhende won a jaw-dropping amount in this popular game and the word spread quickly, prompting action from the police department which led to his suspension. After word of mouth and concerns about his conduct, Pimpri-Chinchwad police ordered a probe into the matter.

According to the probe, Jhende had played the online game without permission and had reportedly given media interviews wearing his police uniform. Then, he was also suspended from duty.

Official statement

Speaking about his suspension, Deputy Commissioner of Police Swapna Gore said, “After the investigation, it was found that he played the Dream11 game without permission, leading to his suspension. This serves as a reminder to other police personnel that they should refrain from playing online games in a similar manner, as they too could face disciplinary action.”

Now, Somanth Jhende will present his statement in the department investigation, said the police.
