According to the Yavat police, Dr Atul Divekar, a resident of Chaitali Park society in Varwand, strangled his wife Pallavi Divekar at their residence, and then threw his children – son Advait and daughter Vedanti – into a nearby well. Advait was nine years old, and Vedanti was six.After the triple murder, Dr Divekar came home and hanged himself.According to SI Sanjay Nagargoje, “Divekar used a string to fatally strangle his wife, Pallavi, a teacher with a local private school. Her body was lying on the floor in their flat, while Divekar was found hanging from the ceiling in the bedroom.”Marital discontent behind this shocking Pune murder tragedyThe police have recovered a suicide note from the deceased couples bedroom. The note detailed the cause behind the gruesome actions of the doctor. According to the police, Atul blamed his wifes “torture” behind the murder-suicide.“We have recovered a note, purportedly written by the deceased veterinarian, stating that he has killed his wife thrown his two children into a well as he did not want them to suffer after ending his life out of frustration.“The note stated that Divekar had strangled his wife to death over personal issues and thrown his children into the well in Jagtap Mala. He said he was also ending his life. He said only he and no one else was responsible for the deaths,” said Anand Bhoite, Additional SP (Pune rural).Efforts to recover the childrens bodies underwayThe remains of the daughter Devika was recovered by the police on Tuesday, but Advaits remains are yet to be found. The efforts are underway to recover all the Pune murder victims bodies as soon as possible.The Pune murder-suicide case is under active investigation by the Yavat police.
